The abrasives you need for keeping industrial valves in good shape

The abrasives are different materials used to grind the surface of industrial valve seats during maintenance. The abrasives are used to grind, lap and polish  the surface until a smooth finish is achieved. The abrasive material can be, for instance, aluminium oxide, silicone carbide, diamond or CBN.

The process relies on the difference in hardness between the abrasive and the material that is worked on. This means that the abrasive needs to be the harder of the two. Industrial valves can be made from very hard, high-quality metals. LarsLap has a broad selection of abrasive materials to meet the valve grinding requirements for a wide range of valve seat materials.

Grinding industrial valves? The abrasive is crucial

Some factors which will affect abrasion speed include:

  • Difference in hardness
  • Grit size
  • Adhesion between grains and backing

You need to take all these factors in consideration when choosing the correct compound or material for your valve grinding. You are always welcome to consult us at LarsLap.
